Is It Just Me [Blu-ray]

A gay romantic comedy that's really romantic
So many of the gay films that get labeled "romantic comedy" should, more accurately, be called "sex farce." They're all about giving viewers a glimpse of skin and hot sex scenes, but they're not so great at showing the truly warm, romantic side of gay relationships.
Is It Just Me bucks that trend. This is an extraordinary film in that the characters are not broadly painted stereotypes, but nuanced and interesting individuals. You may think you know what to expect from each character, but, happily, you'd likely be wrong. Not one of these characters is simple or stereotyped, and all are likable. Gay viewers will see themselves in these characters, but unlike many modern gay movies, they'll see the best parts of themselves reflected on the screen.
Surprisingly for a film of this genre, one of my favorite characters was Ernie, Xander's older roommate (played by Bruce Gray), who is both witty and truly kind. Ernie feels very real and very sweet, and you'll wish you had a...

Positive, amusing tale of finding love in the "gay Disneyland" of WeHo
Blaine on dating in West Hollywood: "Being just average in a world of physical perfection is the worst kind of gay purgatory."

Blaine (Nicholas Downs) is an old-fashioned guy in Los Angeles, a sweet and cute gay twenty-something who is sensitive, honest, hardworking and looking for a guy with whom he can share his life. Not into bars, casual sex and game playing, he channels his loneliness and angst into his column for a newspaper. His roommate, Cameron (Adam Huss), is a shallow, sex-obsessed gym-bunny who acts in bad movies and works as a go-go boy at a WeHo gay bar, exactly the type of guy Blaine tries to avoid. But when Blaine meets Xander (David Loren) online, a guy who seems to be perfect for him, he accidentally sends him Cameron's photo by mistake, and is convinced that Xander only wants to meet him because he looks like that. Cameron agrees to pose as Blaine at their initial meeting, to which Blaine (posing as roommate Cameron) also attends, and things go...

Gay movie with a heart
I wish this film had had the budget to raise the production values above that of a low budget gay film for this is a light-hearted gay romantic comedy where everything works. The characters are not caricatures and after my first viewing of this film last night it is lingering in my thoughts and I can't wait to watch it again. It is very true that self doubting Blaine (Nicholas Downs) is indeed a cutie but in the mainstream gay culture, especially the clubs, if that handsome face doesn't come with a gym well muscled bod often the nicest guys can get overlooked. It makes perfect sense when Blaine meets a Texan hottie Xander (David Loren) on line and they bond on all things that matter, not the superficial, that he gets insecure when he sees that Xander thinks he is indeed his roommate Cameron who is a muscle stud stripper for his pic was accidentally on his facebook page.

If the story line sounds silly believe me as it unfolds it makes perfect sense. Blaine is portrayed...

Deepak Chopra Yoga Transformation: Strength & Energy [HD]

Don't bother if you have her Jane Fonda yoga DVD
Tara Stiles has introduced me to enjoying yoga, when no one else could before..... However......

Having had Tara's Jane Fonda Daily Yoga dvd for a while now, I was very excited when my 2 new dvds arrived in the post. That feeling didn't last very long. Just as the previous reviewer, J.T stated - it is exactly the same thing! It is just with a different background and with 3 girls doing the routine.

There is a LOT of noise interference due to the wind attacking the microphones, which is quite distracting.(And the background music actually makes me want to lay down and sleep.)
If you have Tara's Jane Fonda dvd - don't bother buying this or the weight loss one. I actually feel like I get a better workout just doing the JF one - as opposed to doing either of this set individually.

If you are considering buying this series - please just do yourself a favor and buy the Jane Fonda dvd. It is basically both of these "weight loss" and "strength /energy"...

Boring yoga? Never!
I found Tara Stiles almost exactly a year ago on YouTube. Not long after, I purchased her book Slim Calm Sexy Yoga: 210 Proven Yoga Moves for Mind/Body Bliss (which I cannot recommend enough) and have maintained a daily yoga practice since.

I was happy to find this workout to be challenging yet extremely fun at the same time. It helps you to push yourself past your limits (but not too far!) and locate areas which need improvement. At the end of the routine, I always feel simultaneously relaxed and invigorated.

Tara's instruction is great, and the filming location, Joshua Tree, is simply beautiful. Overall, it is a very fun routine, never boring and perfect for beginners or seasoned pros alike. Highly recommended!

P.S. Don't forget to pickup a copy of Slim, Calm, Sexy. You won't regret it!

yeah !
I am very athletic, and at an intermediate yoga level I think this is a fantastic DVD. It consists of just a single work out session for 50 minutes. The session is very balanced and a good thorough work out. This feels just like a class at my local studio. This is great, you won't be sorry. The meditation session is also quite nice, just a little long for me at 15 minutes.

The Biggest Loser: Calorie Knockout [HD]

Not a bad workout - but definitely some bad training (Anna!)
I don't often write reviews of products, but since this workout video is so new I thought I would give my perspective to those who are thinking about purchasing it. I did the entire video yesterday (a 5 minute warm-up, a 15 minute circuit with Anna, a 15 minute circuit with Bob, a 15 minute circuit with Dolvett, and a 5 minute cooldown). While I did feel like I got a good workout, there were a few things that frustrated me.

Anna is not a good fit for an instructor in a workout video. She may be able to get you to work up a sweat, but I found myself more annoyed as time went on during her circuit. She doesn't count and it's VERY difficult to tell when you are going to transition into the next move. She make peppy little comments to the others doing the moves (the heavier versions of some of the contestants on this season's Biggest Loser), but it comes across as very fake. The workout itself is choppy and difficult to follow. You do work up a good sweat, but if you're...

I loved it!
I'm a P90x girl normally, but I also get really bored doing the same things over and over. I actually checked out this DVD from our library and was pleasantly surprised! I did it on a day that I didn't feel like pushing myself too hard. WOW, did I under estimate the biggest loser workouts! I shed more calories (according to my heart rate monitor) on this DVD than I do on some of my P90x videos! It all just depends on what you put into it. You can make any workout more of a challenge if you push yourself. All in all I say if you're an at-home exerciser like me, this is a great video to add to your rotation!

Basic moves with dumbbells to burn fat
"Biggest Loser: Calorie Knockout" contains some basic exercises, good if you don't want too many fancy moves. Dumbbells are used on all 3 circuits and it is a beginner, and may be almost an intermediate workout, if you use heavier weights and skip the rest periods which was what I did. An instructor leads six former contestants. Instructors are Dolvett Quince, Anna Kournikova, and Bob Harper.

Total workout time (about 53 minutes)

Warm-Up (over 5 minutes) Mr. Quince shows easy moves and stretches.

Circuit #1 (about 11 minutes, 45 seconds) Ms. Kournikova instructs.

Alternating knee lift, to front kick, to knees, with twist
Reverse fly, with tap back, with leg lift
Side kick and tap
Jumping jacks
Lateral lunge with upright row

Progress Live [Blu-ray]

AMAZING!
I love live musical performances more than anything in the world. I have seen 100s of them in my lifetime, (Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Elton John, Rod Stewart to only name a few), but I honestly have never seen a show to top this one. I would have given anything to have been able to see it live. I was not a big fan of Take That or Robbie Williams in the 90's, because living in the US, I didn't know that much about them. However, I discovered Robbie Williams a few years back and in doing a little research on him, found that I absolutely LOVE him and Take That. I am now a massive fan and a fan for life. Bucket List = See Robbie Williams and Take That perform live. Progress Live - BEST CONCERT EVER!

amazing concert
This dvd concert's so awesome, spectacular, fantastic, can't stop to watching this dvd again and again. U should buy this dvd, it's worth to buy, u will never regret it

TRULY AWESOME!
A very well done video. It is the next best thing to actually being there. This video is able to capture the emotion and sounds of the concert. Well worth adding to your collection especially if you are a Robbie Williams fan.

The Lady Vanishes (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]

A Perfect Lady
This 1937 comic thriller is one of the first great masterpieces of Alfred Hitchcock. Based on Ethel Lina White's novel, THE WHEEL SPINS, it mixes laughs and chills better than just about any other film, before or since. A nervous bride-to-be (beautiful Margaret Lockwood) meets a sweet elderly woman (the magnificent Dame May Whitty) on a train bound through Europe to London just before WWII. Also aboard: a roguish musicologist (Michael Redgrave), a pair of adulterers (Cecil Parker and Linden Travers), a smooth German doctor (Paul Lukas), two delightfully fussy cricket fans (Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne), and a mysterious nun (Catherine Lacy) wearing sexy high heels under her habit. When the old lady disappears from the moving train, the young heroine investigates, and everyone else aboard insists that she is mistaken--there never was any old lady....

I can think of no higher tribute to Hitchcock than the fact that so many recent hit films are virtual remakes of his...

Budget Release Meets/Exceeds Expectations
First the usual warnings: caveat emptor, you get what you pay for, etc. etc. etc., yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah. With that out of the way, let me say that getting these three early Hitchcock films at such a low price is an extremely good deal. Sure they're blurry in parts and there are occasional picture/sound glitches, but nothing really interferes with either the storytelling or the suspense, which is really why you're watching them in the first place.

Let me add that the four-star rating is for the DVD as a whole. None of the films are presented at four-star quality (The Lady Vanishes is maybe three-and-a-half), but the fact that you get three movies instead of one or two bumps the score from average to slightly-above.

The Man Who Knew Too Much is the oldest of the three movies and its print and sound quality are the most deteriorated. Nevertheless, the symphony scene and the final gunfight retain their suspensefulness. The movie holds its own against...

A Cinematic Masterpiece
There's one thing that movies can do better than any other artistic medium. It's having you experience something from a character's point of view, and then having every other character in the movie say it never happened. Your empathy as a viewer is at its highest pitch: you saw what happened with your own eyes, and so you see it through the character's eyes as well, but then everyone denies it. This is the central scene on the train in THE LADY VANISHES. Nothing, absolutely nothing, in my opinion, is more cinematic than this. When the idea is used to trick the viewer (as in THE USUAL SUSPECTS), it's not as good (although still it's pretty good, because again it uses film in the most empathetic way possible). And when the trickery is fair--as in THE SIXTH SENSE--it can be superb. I rank THE LADY VANISHES right up there with VERTIGO, PSYCHO, and REAR WINDOW, as Hitchcock's greatest gifts to us, the moviegoers of the world. I would even add SHADOW OF A DOUBT to this...

Life, Above All [HD]

Inspirational Film Making from South Africa
This moving film is based on the book `Chanda's Secret's' by Allan Stratton and has been adapted for the screen by the much talented Oliver Schmitz (Paris Je te'aime). It is the story of Chanda played with great ability by first time actress Khomotso Manyaka. Her father is dead and her mother has remarried a no good alcoholic who has borne him three more children, Chanda is the eldest and so when her mother becomes `ill' she takes on the role of mother, carer and worrier for the whole family.

The step father is an alcoholic who has forgotten why he started drinking but not where to go for it and drunken `extra marital conjugation'. He also blames his wife for the death of their youngest child, but is still able to steal the funeral money for his own ends.

Into this mix Chanda has an only friend called Esther; this poor soul has no-one, no hope and no money. She ekes out an existence by selling her under age body to predators who stop at the local lorry park. Her...

Pleasure Palace Grindhouse Triple Feature

The extras make it worthwhile
Let's start with this: This presentation is hard-core pornography. When I purchased this I had assumed that it was soft-core fare, like most other releases labeled "grindhouse" that are out there these days. Au contraire. So if you don't care for hard-core, move along.

Also, if you like hard-core but don't want to see sex between ugly, hairy, fat people, you probably will want to move along too. I had to fast-forward several times because I was basically grossed out.

However, if you're fascinated by this strange and very brief era in American cultural and cinematic history, this one is worth a look--primarily because of its extras, which include a commentary (!!! how many pornos have that?) as well as an interview with the director. Carter Stevens is a delight; seems like a really cool, funny, well-adjusted guy and sounds kind of like Danny DeVito.

Thomas & Friends: Rescue On Rails [HD]

40 stars = how many thumbs up?
I'll be honest. I've seen so many Thomas movies/shows, my eyes glaze over whenever one is on. Because of that, I'm not sure I can give a fair, unbiased review, so... I turned to my 4-year-old son for his opinion.

Me: Hey, [insert my 4yo son's name here].

Son: Yeah?

Me: How many stars would you give "Thomas & Friends: Rescue On Rails."

Son: 40.

There you go. Forty stars.

Enjoy.

Great Story
My grandsons are 2 and 5 and love Thomas, fun movie, good music, kept them interested start to finish looking forward to more new movies

Code Lyoko Season 2 (6 Disc Set)

Some video issues, but a good set for fans
Like many of you wondering about this product, I too got the Funimation season 1 back when it was released 5+ years ago and then got totally screwed over when they only released five episodes (1 disc, which does correspond to the first disc in this set) of season 2 and just quit at that. So I was quite excited to see these sets! However, never having bought anything that was DVD-R print on demand (btw, the discs all have a purple disc surface, much like if you were to buy a stack of DVD-Rs), I had to take a bit of a risk. For a physical description of the product, I took some pictures that can be seen on the related images page, but while it is minimalistic in terms of disc and box artwork, the DVD case is nicely done, the discs don't feel like they're going to fall out or anything, quite secure. I wish all 6 disc case holders came in these.

Now on to how the video is, which is what you are probably most curious about. For the most part, the video quality on the eps is...

Great for any code lyoko fan!
The episodes are in great clarity! It has all season two episodes, which include the epidoes: new order, uncharted territory, exploration, a great day, mister puck, st. valentines day, final mix, missing link, the chips are down, marabounta, common interest, temptation, a bad turn, attack of the zombies, ultimatum, a fine mess, xana kiss, vertigo, cold war, deja vu, tip top shape, is anybody out there, franz hopper, contact, revelation, and the key.

If you are code lyoko fan I would recomend this item; along with the other seasons.

Awesome!
This is one of my favorite childhood TV shows. It has action and adventure. Really good for all ages and it shows both forms of animation. From cartoon to cgi.

Fast Five BD Combo with Die-Cast Toy Dodge Charger [Blu-ray]

Fast Five brings the family back for one final job and a action packed thrill ride!
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster team up again for some more heart pounding adrenaline action. This movie takes place after Fast and Furious. The film brings the crew back together in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil for one last job to get their freedom before disappearing forever. Some of the previous stars through the past Fast and Furious films return, including Tyrese Gibson, (Roman Pearce - 2 Fast 2 Furious) Ludacris (Tej - 2 Fast 2 Furious), Gal Gadot, (Gisele - Fast and Furious) Matt Schulze (Vince -The Fast and Furious) and Sung Kang (Han - Tokyo Drift) all return for one of the most action packed Fast and Furious movies ever. They are faced with a tough federal agent Luke Hobbs (the Rock) who will stop at nothing to hunt them down. I will not give away any more but, I'm happy to say Fast Five does not disappoint. This Movie is action packed from start to finish, and even though it has many over the top moments it is still one heck of an enjoyable action ride. Just like the...

Extended Cut vs. Theatrical Cut Differences
Beware, the extended cut of the movie primarily adds minor content changes; there is one new scene, which is detailed below.

The Extended Cut is slightly over one minute longer than the theatrical cut, most new scenes add just CGI blood, most of the time the blood being barely noticeable.

1) When Zizi's armed thugs attack Toretto's hideout, one of the thugs has his gun turned on himself by Toretto with CGI blood added in.

2) When Hobbs attacks three of Zizi's thugs in the favela shootout, there is re-inserted CGI blood when Hobbs shoots one and knifes the other. The neck breaking of the last thug seems a little more brutal.

3) Hobbs' men fire on Zizi's thugs for a few seconds longer.

4) Slightly extended scene where Tej asks for a duplicate safe.

5) New scene: Discussion by Toretto's crew regarding breaking into the safe and transporting it. They discuss the existence of the bathroom having a ventilation shaft...

The Best of the Franchise
This is just a great film. It's fun, it's loud, it's got story, and it's got gorgeous girls and amazing cars. That's the recipe for an awesome blockbuster. I'd heard the hype, and had always planned to see it, but I didn't know it would be as good as it was. it was just bada**. I came to Amazon the minute it was over to try and pre-order the Blu-ray--it is that good. Sure, it's cliche a lot of the time, but cliche doesn't have to be a bad thing. If you liked the original film then this is right on par with that--I think it's even better.I can't wait for the 6th one to come out!

Hostile Witness

Little-known, winning courtroom mystery
1968's 'Hostile Witness' is a light but well-staged U.K. courtroom 'whodunit' written by playwright Jack Roffey (based on his play of the same name) and, notably, directed by its star Ray Milland (whose other such efforts include 1958's 'The Safecracker' and 1962's 'Panic in the Year Zero'). The briskly paced plot-- a respectable murder-mystery solved at trial by prime suspect/former prosecutor Milland, who's forced ultimately to represent himself-- and fine roster of seasoned British character actors provide enough nuance, humor and suspense to keep you contentedly in your seat (if not quite on the edge of it) for the film's somewhat bulky 100-minute running time. The MGM DVD-R (I'm sick of complaining about this cheap format) looks very nice, with rich color reproduction in a clear anamorphic widescreen print encumbered only by a few artifacts here and there. Presentation and content together earn a solid 3 1/2 stars.

Note (anti-*SPOILER*): If you don't want to know...

Rapt [Blu-ray]

Rapt Rides High
Rapt Review by Ghost Writer

I received the video this week. Unfortunately, I was unable to begin watching it until after 10 p.m. Fortunately, it was worth every minute of sleep I lost, and I found myself thinking about the movie the next day at work which is today. I decided to write the review while I am thinking about how much I enjoyed the movie.
The film is about a very successful Industrialist in France. He is married with two children and he has a domineering mother, and a faithful dog. He has just been invited to travel with the top politicians to discuss his success and help the President.
However, things change when he is kidnapped and held for ransom. He has to endure gruesome torture. The torture does not seem to be as bad as the secrets of his present and past.
It is a psychological thriller with tension right up to the very end of the film. The theme reminds the viewers of what is going on in America today with the rich and the not so rich...

Who Dies?
Other reviewers give a good synopsis of the story so I shall briefly outline those. We have a wealthy businessman, husband/father that is kidnapped for a sum that appears out of reach for his family and his employer, possible co-guarantor. As it turns out he's a bit of a self-serving, gambling, mistress supporting, SOB dog of a person so even though your sympathies lie with him though out most of the movie - doubts creep in.

Spoiler and super-spoiler (read after watching):
Right, so as you've seen he's let free by the captors because the ransom is not coming; he's told that he will have to pay the unimaginable sum upon receiving a forthcoming encoded message or his family dies. As we know, he's not too welcomed by family and business associates and those relationships appear to be becoming more distant. He does, however, display exorbitant attention upon his "faithful", non-judgemental dog. In the final scene, after receiving his encoded ransom message, he takes his...

Hannibal Brooks

AT LAST - FINALLY ON DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At last, this wonderful movie is finally available on DVD. Made by Michael Winner in 1968 in the days when he was making films for the family that didn't involve women being raped and tortured. The story of a British P.O.W. in 1944 helping to lead an elephant over the Alps to freedom in Switzerland was devised by Winner and former P.O.W. Tom Wright and blessed by a great script full of quotable lines by "Likely Lads" writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. Oliver Reed (and the rest of the cast) are great, although the film is stolen by Michael J. Pollard, who has never been better than he is in this film. With great picture postcard photography of Austria (by Robert Paynter) and a terrific score by "Love Story" composer Francis Lai, this is great entertainment and deserves to be better known than it is.

This DVD is on the DVD-R format which thankfully means that it is Region Free (I can confirm this having played it on a Region 2 DVD player). It is a clean print (apart...

Winner and Reed come through yet again! STUNNING FILM!
This is mostly Winner's last European love letter style film before becoming an ex pat Hollywood director. It is transitional in that sense as it features many intense action sequences and situations not seen in his earlier London/UK centric work yet the love of scenery is still apparent. The action work would be played up in his later film like Death Wish. STUNNING SHOTS OF THE ALPS! Great acting, Francis Lai score and of course the elephant is WONDERFUL without being sentimental. another unsung gem of cinema by Winner and Reed. GET THIS FILM!

Michael Winner's losing battle...
["Hannibal Brooks" - (1968) - Directed by Michael Winner - 102 min. approx.] As a fan of Oliver Reed, Michael J. Pollard, 60's war flicks and 4-legged mammals, I read the two reviews prior to mine and scarfed this one up greedily. It had all the earmarks of a great film, but fell flat every chance it was offered. It wasn't terrible - mildly entertaining if one's expectations are kept extremely low, or if a night of mindless family-friendly viewing is in mind - but it is disappointing, on several levels in fact.

There's not much of a set-up, story-wise. Within the first five minutes, British soldier Brooks (Reed) is captured and whisked off to a German POW camp and assigned as caregiver to a Munich zoo Elephant named Lucy. They bond immediately (highly unlikely) and, moments later, are shipped off to the north and safer digs for Lucy (also highly unlikely) after an air raid almost destroys the zoo. When an SS officer commandeers the train car designated for the pachyderm,...

Ready Bollywood Blu Ray With English Subtitles

READY
READY is pure entertainment with lots of fun, comedy and action. Salman Khan is effortless in his role as Prem and he looked like he was having fun making this movie as there was a classic scene( plucked out of his other blockbuster movie) done tongue-in-cheek! All the songs were fabulous and absolutely addictive, especially Character Deela and Dinka Chika. The rest of the cast were great in their respective roles but I think this movie sells by the sheer force of Salman Khan's name alone,
never mind his superb acting and charm! While I find this movie wasn't as great as DABANGG,which I think it's pretty hard to beat,it's still a very enjoyable and watchable movie and definitely worth adding to your collection. Some jokes could go over your head if you're not familiar with some past Bollywood movies or the Indian culture for that matter as I was with a particular scene, with Prem making reference to almond tea??? in context with his bride to his father - just couldn't get that...

A Salman Khan show all the way
Ready is one of the films which takes your brain on a holiday and you still have fun without. Ready is a remake of a Teleugu film of the same name starring Ram and Genelia D'souza. This film is a vehicle for Salman Khan and his antics, and it is a both a tribute and testimony of his star power. The most preposterous things are executed randomly and you will love all of them.
The basic story is about how Salman rescues a girl from the clutches of her evil fiancé's family and manages to reunite a family of warring don's. Ready has one of the catchiest soundtracks of the year, you will want to hear 'Dhinka Chika', 'Character Dheela' and 'Meri Adaa' again and again.
Don't listen to anyone of the critics; this is a film that you would love to watch again and again. 5 stars. 9/8/2011

Comedy - typical Salman movie
If you are looking for light entertainment and like Salman Khan, this is for you. Asin is good to watch as well.

Are the elite breaking America's back?
Most people don't fully comprehend the shape of the country and where the elite are leading us. But let me ask you this: Who is benefitting from the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc? Texe Marrs does an important service in producing this documentary. He puts together all of the answers to the questions above and so much more. Our situation is dire. Outstanding Documentary! Can America be Great Once Again?
Texe Marrs has produced another winner with his exceptional video exposé, Die America Die. Was this planned by the elitist groups? This groundbreaking video takes all the facts and lines them up for you and me to connect the dots. This video is a "must" for every American to see and decide for themselves: "Can we stop this foul plan of the elite and make America great once again?"

Bike-O-Vision Cycling Journey- American Gems (Widescreen DVD #16)

Gorgeous Views, Much of It Ocean, As We Ride Through Stunning Parts of Our Country
These Bike-O-Vision DVDs are pleasant enough to entice an exerciser off that couch. The key is the locations they've chosen, which are excellent!

Yesterday evening I just didn't want to work out. I use a variety of cycling, walking, and hiking videos to inspire me, but I just didn't want a really tough workout. I looked through some of my new DVDs to see if one would just reach out and grab me.

'American Gems' includes some of my favorite parts of the country, spectacular areas around Monterey, Pebble Beach, and 17-Mile Drive in California, and that was enough for me to give it a try. There were other drives which included Nevada and Maine, for a unique variety of choices, all good.

Immediately my mood improved and I started enjoying the ride. These are gorgeous views. I was able to go as fast as I wanted to for my own workout purposes, which weren't too optimistic yesterday as I started. As I got into the workout I checked my heart rate monitor and...

Not enough woodsy scenery
I was expecting this to be a more woodsy or coastal environment and to my disappointment it was more city like. There are 5 environments to choose from and fortunately the last 2 are what I was looking for so I'll keep it. Maybe I can get used to the city views. Also the music is not quite biking music, it's almost hillbilly like and not very enjoyable to listen to. I'll probably use my MP3 player for these routes.

The Book of Eli [HD]

Eye-opening
The Book of Eli is a vastly underappreciated film that mixes martial arts swordsmanship, a post-apocalyptic setting, and a biblical narrative.

A war, over thirty years ago, killed off many people in the United States. Others were blinded from the blast. This creates an interesting disparity between those over thirty years of age who received an education and those under thirty who know nothing of the modern world (at one point, one of the thugs asks, "What's a television?").

This is an unpleasant world. Cannibalistic brigands ambush unwary travelers, identifiable by their shaking hands. Water is at a premium. Batteries are hard to find. The Book of Eli makes it clear that there's no currency, only barter.

Roaming the land is Eli (a subdued Denzel Washington), carrying a book with a cross on it. This book is greatly desired by Carnegie (a greasy Gary Oldman), who is also old enough to remember the power such a tome can have over the people. While...

Fallout 3: The Movie.
I was hesitant to watch The Book of Eli for a while because of mixed things I'd read. Some people claimed it to be 'too religious' and others said the movie was just plain boring. Honestly, the trailers I'd seen didn't exactly win me over, but I gave the movie a shot when I was sick one day, and man did I enjoy it. If you've played the Fallout games, especially Fallout 3, you will -love- The Book of Eli. So many similarities in the look of the wasteland, in the combat scenes, the importance of water, and more. But even if you never played Fallout 3, The Book of Eli is a very enjoyable movie, provided you're not one of those people that immediately hates anything 'religious' and claims a movie is preachy, given that the subject matter here is religion...so that kind of makes you weird to say that. I'm not a Christian, and I'm definitely not an Atheist, but I didn't find anything 'preachy' about The Book of Eli.

The world is in shambles. There's no law for the most part...

A good post-apocalyptic tale
The post-apocalypse sub-genre of science fiction has always been a place I like to go. I'll give movies of this type some slack I wouldn't always give other kinds, so that even a relatively weak post-apoc flick like Doomsday (in which Malcolm McDowell appeared, as he does here) still has its interesting moments. But if it's a good one such as I Am Legend, I'm really into it bigtime. So I've been eagerly anticipating The Book of Eli from the time the first trailers appeared, and now that I've seen it there were many things about it I liked. Start with the mythic prophet main character. His super-heroic weapons skills showed there was something unique about him early on. Those scenes were generally pretty cool, and they were spread out pretty well over the length of the film. (Any more fight scenes would have bored me.) Eli's story plays out with a kind of grim determinism, although it also has hopeful elements as well. I was glad I wasn't previously familiar with the story, as...

Born and Bred [HD]

Its ok but not for everybody
same as above was ok good for boxing students or fan may be to long for others.
i would recommend to boxing friends

GREAT!
I don't normally review movies, or write about them, but this was just a great documentary. If you love boxing, you will recognize a couple of faces in the sport. The interviews are inspiring because that is exactly what boxers think. It really is the only sport that is world renowned and anyone can understand it, but not many people can participate. It requires a certain love for it, and as a boxer myself it was really heart felt and really put together well for others to get an inside of the sport. I highly recommend this documentary to any fan of boxing.

Top quality documentary. Really inspirational!
Really well-made documentary. I'm amazed that I had never heard about it until I saw a link on FB and checked it out. Seems like it should have won some awards or been on prime time cable.

Anyways, it's a great story and put together in a very creative way. It not only gives a cool look inside boxers as they start out as little kids, it gives the full panorama of Latinos in this country: hustlers, gangsters, humble families, religious types and, of course, the fighters.

I really enjoyed it and I recommend it to anyone who likes smart documentaries or just inspiration films about not giving up no matter what people tell you!

Texas Cowpuncher. Vaquero Eight

Less than expected....
I have to agree with other reviewer. While I applaud the effort, the production quality was suprisingly low. While the presentation covered a geographically broad range of Texas cowpunchers, the history is flung at you rapid fire in about one 3 minute segment. I actually had to pause it, step back and try to determine what I had just heard. What's missing here is depth. As already stated, you really don't get any insight into the cowboys at work. Absolutely concur with annoyance in having Waddie Mitchell pop up towards the end. He belongs in a completely different segment, different planet rather. Sort of goofy when all is said and done, though I can see what they were trying to accomplish using Mitchell as a means for constrast; just came off goofy. Should I ever feel tempted to watch another, I'll definitely check the credits.

Not what I had hoped
I was really disappointed with this video. The low production quality really shows. Much of it looks like it was filmed with a cheap pocket camera. Lots of bad edits. Lot's of history on Texas, cattle and ranches but most of it doesn't correlate with the historical or modern cowpuncher and how he was shaped. Very little time was actually spent showing cowpunchers doing their work. Also, Waddie Mitchell, Queen of the Buckaroos, really shouldn't have been included is this video. It seems he was included purely to make snide comments about the cowpuncher way of doing things. I haven't seen any of the other videos in the series and after watching this, probably won't.

awsome part to the series
i love all the movies to this series, this movie i like, it shows that it is not about all the show and glow. Rather about the man that can do the job at hand.

Showstoppers [HD]

Good movie
The movie was very entertaining. It wasnt a big budget hollywood movie but it had alot of heart with great performances from the actors. The story line was good. My 16 yr old daughter and her friends watched it 5 times over the weekend. They love it.

Interesting, but only worth $4.00.
Okay I'm in a Black Greek sorority so I was interested due to the fact that it was stepping from the women's perspective. First of all this is no where near the quality of Stomp The Yard. The acting is bit horrendous and the sets looked straight from your local high school play. I understand it was a low budget film, but come on man. I really wish a large film company was invest money in another GOOD Black Greek film, but what can you do. Overall just wait until they air this on BET Starz or grab it as a quick rental at Blockbuster.

Descent
For an low budget film; Its pretty nice. i liked it over all. It does you remind you of a group of high school vibe. I personally would not pay more than $5 dollars even with shipping and handleing.

Spork [HD]

A Raucous Middle School Comedy: Another Cinematic Misfit Takes Center Stage
There is no denying that the whimsical "Spork" is an underdog story that you really want to root for. Even with its over-the-top performances, rampant quirkiness, and confrontational humor, it really abides by every expected mean girl versus misfit cliche that you can imagine. Yet with its amateur and homemade appeal and its willingness to wallow in bad taste heaven, it feels like a middle school variation of John Waters' "Hairspray" (you know, prior to the musical version). I mean that as a compliment, sort of. The film lacks a professional polish that might make it a mainstream crossover. It just seems so inexpensive, so underground, but I'm confident that was the filmmaker's intention. It embraces its badness and tackiness with zealous glee. Some people will find that outrageously entertaining, some might find the picture garish and obvious. I'll admit, I laughed in equal proportion to the amount of time I spent rolling my eyes. I might have more whole-heartedly embraced the lunacy...

Beautiful
I watched this because Netflix recommended it. THANK YOU, NETFLIX! I loved every moment. From the old-school video games sounds in the beginning to the mentions of The Wiz to the dance-off at the end, I was hooked. If you liked (or loved) Welcome to the Dollhouse and/or Napoleon Dynamite, this movie is for you.

I loved that the characters dressed in late 80s/early 90s garb. That doesn't mean the film is set in that era; they speak frequently of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

Sure, much of the overall plot is easy to figure out, but the way it is presented is entirely unique. The fact that Spork is a hermaphrodite is certainly new. The fact she has a dong isn't, by any means, the focus of the movie. We all felt as though we were freaks at 14, didn't we?

Eli Writes Review
Wow, oh wow! This is one of the quirkiest movies I have ever seen and right up my alley!

Let it be said this kind of humour isn't for everyone. It's a fine mix of "is it terrible", "is it awesome", "so terrible it IS awesome". Not everyone is willing to sit around to find out. Some people are going to love it, some are gonna hate it, and some will be left going "What did I just watch?". Which granted was my reaction at first.
That said, I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. From the first moments I braced myself for a theme of trying too hard to be cool and what eerily reminded me of "Napoleon Dynamite"..

On the surface this movie may seem shallow, taking a cheap shot at trying to be different and over the top. Give it a chance because while it's kind of weird, we're all kind of weird (sometimes). Embrace your closet strangeness and look for the deeper message. A truly clever movie, from the simple silly names (Betsy Byotch), the stereotypical...

No Entry Bollywood Blu Ray With English Subtitles [Blu-ray]

NO ENTRY - a funny screwball sex comedy
NO ENTRY is a 2005 Bollywood sex farce and a very funny one. Several big name Bollywood stars work their magic as they breezily traipse thru a loopy plot rife with extra-marital affairs, suicidal misunderstandings, near wedding fiascos, and assumed and mistaken identities. The film delves into the doings of seven people, whose lives progressively become more zany and complicated as lie builds upon lie and calamity compounds calamity, often with hilarious results. To be fair, the blame for most of the wacky happenings mostly lie at the feet of the male characters.

Get a load of the plot: Kishan (Anil Kapoor) is a reserved newspaperman and a faithful husband who is burdened with a persistently suspicious wife, Kaajal (Lara Dutta). Kishen's opposite is Prem (Salman Khan), who is fun loving and likes to get some on the side, if you know what I mean. He has an adoring wife, Pooja (Esha Deol), who remains oblivious to his rampant womanizing. Prem, you see, is blessed with a...

so funny
Salman Khan in this movie was so awesome. This movie made me laugh till I cried. Anil Kapoor was unbelievably funny. All the crazy behaviour kept you wondering what would happen next.

A Good Combination of Cast
What stood out in this film, for me, was the music. The story was simple and a little tired, but still well acted and delivered. I'd recommend this movie to anyone who might be a fan of the genre.

Nightkiller

Almost unwatchable
Unofficial release, hard to find rare piece of ultra campy early 90's slasher. I was very disappointed by the low quality of this DVD release. I certainly wouldn't recommend this title at all. Picture and sound quality is of an old VHS tape. (Even the end credits are cut off too early) Film itself, well...there's a masked killer... see it if you're a die hard fan of Claudio Fragasso. Not worth the price tag though.

NICE!
Finally, Claudio Fragasso's lost horror film is available on dvd, thanks to the folks over at mom n pop video. Hopefully they will release an uncut version of monster dog or beyond darkness next!

A Quiet Place In The Country

A Quiet Place To Lose Your Mind...
[A QUIET PLACE IN THE COUNTRY - 1969 - Widescreen - English or Italian w/ English subtitles - Directed by Elio Petri] I was unaware of this film until it was finally released on dvd late in 2011 by MGM Limited Edition Collection DVD-R, and it was a treat to watch. I love hunting for obscure titles and finding minor gems like this one, and who would've thought that renowned director Elio Petri ('The 10th Victim', 'Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion', 'Alfredo Alfredo') would've made a giallo in English? It's an Rome/Paris co-production AKA 'Un Tranquillo Posto Di Campagna'.

Franco Nero stars as a prominent painter who is currently plagued by nightmarish dreams that are both violent and sexually bizarre, involving his lover and press agent, Vanessa Redgrave, and she's convinced it would do him good to get away for a while. He chooses to rent a villa in the country as a means of escape, but instead of the stately places Redgrave shows him, he opts for a quiet,...

Brilliant Psychic Mystery
Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero star in Elio Petri's "A Quiet Place in the Country" made at the height of their romance off-screen. On-screen they are well-pitted although Nero basically has the edge on Redgrave normally superior acting prowess. They prove to be have a durable chemistry together although they are seen as abusive to each other psychologically and competitive. Produced by Alberto Grimaldi, Petri's film with screenplay by Petri and Luciano Vincenzoni is brilliantly conceived and done with everyone giving a first-rate performance. Edited by Ruggero Mastroianni, cinematography by Luigi Kuveiller and the score by Ennio Morricone are all equally brilliant as well as the art direction by Sergio Canevari. The film's story is of an artist who goes to the country to work and resides at an estate inhabited by the disturbed ghost of a prior owner whom he proceeds to help solve her unrest. Has a lot to say about our dependence on the advancements of technology on our...

Great Film
To be recommended if the interest in film expands beyond standards and structures. A great film with Franco Nero and Vanessa Redgrave. Can watch it over and over again.

Daylight [HD]

For Fans of Slow-Burning Psychological Thrillers
If you're a fan of thrillers such as Silence of the Lambs or Seven, Daylight may not be what you're looking for. But if you appreciate psychological thrillers that focus more on character relationships than plot, this film is definitely worth watching.

Daylight is the story of a European couple that are kidnapped after offering a ride to a hitchhiker. While this isn't a new concept in film, there is at least one twist in the situation: one of the kidnap victims is pregnant. This adds a new spin on what was already a dangerous situation for everyone involved.

What stands out most about Daylight is how rounded the characters are. You're given very human glimpses of the generally violent kidnappers, and how a pregnant mother-to-be is both vulnerable yet determined when it comes to protecting her unborn child. Rather than emphasize why everyone is in such a cat-and-mouse situation, the film largely explores the complex relationships that exist between the...

Take Everything from Me Which Keeps Me Away from You
Daylight is, first and foremost, atmospheric. Its characters' motivations are somewhat opaque. Its dialog is intense, but intentionally flat. It aims to unsettle the viewer. It asks more questions than it answers. It is an existential horror film. The "plot" is simple--a bourgeois married couple (the woman is pregnant) are driving on a road in semi-rural America; they pick up a hitch-hiker, and are taken hostage by a group of men--but most of what happens in the film is maneuvering, and development/changes of character relationships. Character is important. The criminals are strange, because they seethe with violence and desire, while also conveying innocence. The pregnant woman is serene, but emotionally frail. Her bones show. Early in the film she prays, "My Lord, and my God, take everything from me which keeps me away from you. My Lord, and my God, give me everything which leads me to you." Moving forward, Daylight works on answering her prayer.

You may enjoy Daylight...

The Whole Ten Yards [HD]

A Paltry Shadow of the Original
Thanks to falsified dental records supplied by his former neighbor Nicholas Oz Oseransky, retired hitman Jimmy The Tulip Tudeski now spends his days compulsively cleaning his house and perfecting his culinary skills with his wife, Jill, a purported assassin who has yet to pull off a clean hit. Suddenly, an uninvited and unwelcome connection to their past unexpectedly shows up on Jimmy and Jill's doorstep: it's Oz, and he's begging them to help him rescue his wife from the Hungarian mob. To complicate matters even further, the men, who are out to get Oz, are led by Lazlo Gogolak, a childhood rival of Jimmy's and another notorious hitman. Oz, Jimmy and Jill will have to go the whole nine yards--and then some--to manage the mounting Mafioso mayhem.

There isn't much about this film to enjoy. I was hoping it would be a lot funnier than it was, but I just didn't laugh at anything except Kevin Pollack's character who was hard to understand most of the time. I had no problem with...

Worst Movie I have seen in Several years
My wife brought this turkey home from Blockbuster. The plot and dialogue is lame. A husband and wife team are "hit men." The wife can't shoot straight and the husbnad is retired from the business. the plot centers around a Hungarian mob leader who is released from prison and wants vengance on the retired hit man (Bruce Willis) and a dentist, Mathew Perry. It goes down hill from here. The only interesting characters were the mobster and his son and the son was killed off about mid-movie. This move is a real stinker. Don't waste your time.

9 is Greater than 10
'The Whole Ten Yards' continues the stories of the dentist Oz (played by Matt Perry) and his former neighbor and retired contract killer, Jimmy the Tulip Tudeski (played by Bruce Willis). After escaping with millions of dollars in Mob money in the 'The Whole Nine Yards,' Oz has married Jimmy's ex-wife and moved to California to set up a practice. Jimmy has moved to Mexico with Jill, Oz's former assistant, who has taken up contract killing herself. Jimmy's former boss, Lazlo, is released from jail, and quickly sets out to find Jimmy and what happened to his son, Yanni.

The Good: two words: Kevin Pollack. He stole the show and was the highlight of the movie. His character is like a father to a gang of bumbling mobsters that are constantly bickering and can't keep their hands to themselves. His accent and tendency to mix up his idioms is hysterical.

Also Good: There are select scenes between Jimmy and Oz, and some with Jill (played by Amanda Peet) that...

Shaolin Kung Fu Fundamental Training

Wow! If this is the 'basic training'..
Kung Fu means 'Time / Energy'. Literally, something which takes time and energy to achieve.

In this video, Dr. Yang teaches the necessary body conditioning for Shaolin Kung Fu, starting with stretching for the entire body, both standing and sitting. Some of it is very intense, difficult stuff which needs to be patiently trained for 6 months.

During the fundamental stances Master Yang explains some of the applications, and really corrects the posture of his students demonstrating. He teaches with a great sense of humor, with a very humble manner, but offers so much information for each technique.

The Punches are shown in a classroom situation, with corrections and applications, and are also shown by students hitting a heavy bag. There is a great variety of techniques, which give an excellent foundation for further study.

Very fun and serious video!

Thank you Master Yang for keeping the classical martial arts of Shaolin Temple alive...

Excellent program on the fundamentals of Shaolin Kung Fu
I have a tremendous amount of respect for Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming. Both as a martial artist and an instructor, which includes being a good man. This DVD, "Shaolin Kung Fu: Fundamental Training" illustrates just why I hold him in such high regard. For starters, the program contains three hours of instruction. Additionally, this is one of the programs where Dr. Yang teaches to the camera, rather that demonstrating with a voice over. Anyone who has read my reviews knows that I favor instruction to the camera by the instructor, over demonstrations and voice overs.

In this program, Dr. Yang draws from his knowledge of Long Fist and White Crane Kung Fu to explain and instruct on the basic training techniques that form the essential foundation of YMAA Shaolin Kung Fu training. Besides being a must take home resource for anyone studying Shaolin Kung Fu, I found a lot of information that will assist martial artists from other styles become better martial artists.

EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE VERY WELL DONE AND WORTH EVERY DOLLAR I PAID!
This dvd is loaded with information. I suspect I will be learning, refering to and benefitting from its contents for years to come.Dr Yang appears as a very learned Sifu and as I have recently begun the practice of Kung Fu at a school in Michigan (TCMA/ Berkley) this was bought as a tool to use at home. I am totally pleased and am glad I own this. Thanks to Sifu Yang for taking the time to do what he does which is pass on valuable and rare kung fu knowledge. I do feel that a beginner buying this DVD would be able to increase his/her awareness and make progress in kung fu even if there was not a school to attend though it is reccommended. I am looking forward to it all.

Timecop [HD]

Enjoyable despite inconsistencies (but full-screen?)
Apart from the _Terminator_ series, there haven't been all that many SF time-travel action thrillers. There have been time-travel _movies_, but they're generally not action flicks. (_Somewhere in Time_, for example, is primarily a romance, and the brilliant _12 Monkeys_ isn't about "action.") Of course there's Nicholas Meyer's excellent _Time After Time_, which isn't as well known as it should be.

And there's this one. It's not (just) a Van Damme vehicle, though it works well enough for fans of the Muscles from Brussels. It's also a fairly well constructed and enjoyable SF movie.

SF readers be warned: it does _not_ have the logical tightness of Robert A. Heinlein's early time-travel stories ('By His Bootstraps', 'All You Zombies'), or even of the first _Terminator_ film. But as Heinlein found in later life, an unalterable past/future just doesn't make for very exciting drama. (As of _The Cat Who Walks Through Walls_, RAH was officially allowing the past, and...

Awful pan and scan version!
For a film that was shot in full anamorphic Panavision 2.35:1 by a very good director/cinematographer I find it very weird that Universal would only release this in cropped format. Many other people have expressed their disappointment in other reviews about this but I must let you know that the R2 version IS in widescreen. If you must by this film then get the UK Region 2 version. The Dolby 5.1 soundtrack remains the same but the movie is shown in it's correct OAR. And that is what matters most.

Eating Like A Nutritarian

The way we eat.
The information you get from this DVD and all the other DR Fuhrman books is astounding and shocking. I bought 1 book because I saw a program on the Television and after reading that it was like discovering the real truth about eating. Then my Wife read it which lead us to get his other books. It is amazing how we grow up eating and thinking that was the normal way to eat. The way everything is explained made me realize that we should have been raised with this kind of knowledge because its so very true and simple. DR Fuhrman does not push any views on you, he just offers true knowledge of ways to eat and heal many ailments from eating the right foods. I really enjoyed all of the books and Great Recipes with my Wife and we both found that we look and feel better. You can eat Meat and Seafood if you want to which is something my Wife and I still do. This is not another Diet gimmick. In fact its not even a Diet! Its pure common sense!

A must for every home
This video is a great resource for anyone interested in their health. The details Dr. Furhman presented in how to get the most nutritional benefit from the foods we eat was nothing short of amazing, much of which was new to me even though I have read a lot on this subject and am an avid viewer and admirer of people and programs like Dr. Oz. Dr. Furhman's excitement on this topic is so infectious that by the end of the video you will want to go to the market and purchase some of those fruits and vegetables you've never tried before.

Given the health challenges we face in this country and the fact that children are the most impressionable members of society I wish there were some way to make information like this mandatorty before graduation from high school and college.

Most Of It Is Common Sense
I do like this DVD, don't misunderstand.
If you have already read any of his other material than this is more of the same. I was hoping for something more in depth or different than his ETL book.

I did appreciate his food demonstations for the most part--again it was pretty simple and things the average American already knows. A few foods, like the Artichoke, I would not have thought to even try. It was helpful to see how he prepared it.

Over all, this is a great starter DVD but can be skipped if you have already read his ETL book.

That Show with Joan Rivers Vol. 3

"More of "That Show!!!!""
In this final installment of "That Show with Joan Rivers" guests include Nancy Walker, David Suskind and Dr. Joyce Brothers.

Six episodes are included in this set from Joan's very first television talk show that aired for only one season from 1968-1969. The series aired on most owned NBC stations and was syndicated to others. However, after a year Joan was exhausted from doing this and her comedy concerts and was fed up with the poor ratings the show received later in its run. This was due to many stations moving "That Show" up against big network fare in the afternoon like soap operas and game shows. Some stations even aired it on prime time against the likes of "The Carol Burnett Show" so the chances of "That Show" surviving became very small.

There are three volumes of "That Show with Joan Rivers" available for purchase and they also come in one complete set containing all 18 episodes.

Watch a legend in the making. "That Show" is simply a...

Girls On Girls

The New Girl-on-Girl - Barely Legal
What started out as girls flashing their breasts (for a free Girls Gone Wild T-shirt) - has more recently evolved into a bellwether of female sexuality (in the new century) - that captures some of the freshest and most spontaneous girl/girl action you'll find in any video series today.

These aren't actresses performing on film - but real girls, being sexy - and doing what just comes naturally. Sure, you'll still see young women flashing, hiking their skirts, or completely baring their souls (or the physical equivalent) - just for the fun of it! But you'll also find babes who (instinctively) know their way (exploring) around their friend's feminine form - and who feel just as comfortable doing so - as they would around their own.

You'll also find lots of girls kissing (another GGW trademark) - which, alas, is something you might not always enjoy seeing in other (adult) movies -- where the actresses are supposedly a lot more professional.

Adele Live At The Royal Albert Hall (Blu-ray/CD)

Adele will take your breathe away....again.
I was able to preview this and it is with pleasure that I call myself one of the biggest Adele fans ever. It is almost impossible to find someone you don't know that makes you feel as if though they took the words right out of your mouth and put them in song. She said that she concentrated on making music for the ears, not the eyes, but in this video, you're clearly able to see that the eyes get a treat as well- she is breathtaking.

In a modern age, where concerts rely on special effects, pyro, dancers, and theatrics, Adele manages to achieve the same results one would get from such shows by just having a backing band, 2 background singers, and a stool- her voice IS the show! I will be honest, I was worried about Adele having so many throat problems while on tour and when she had surgery in early summer, I was expecting a drastic notice in her voice. You do hear her throat a little scratchy in the dvd/cd but the "imperfections" only managed to bring more truth to the...

Live Adele? Yes, please!
I received Adele Live at the Royal Albert Hall DVD/CD set today, which I've been looking forward to for a few weeks. Having already watched the DVD, and listened to the CD, here's my review:

Let's start with the production value, which is a dicey proposition with concert DVDs. This one was top notch. The director did a nice job of capturing Adele, her songs, and the audience. He didn't get too cute with silly camera tricks or over editing, which is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to concert DVDs. I'm watching the concert to see the show, not what cool tricks you learned in film school. I was very pleased with the production value of this DVD.

Moving on to the packaging and content, very simple which equals nice in my book. The box, discs, and booklet have a nice black and white theme to it, which again, captures Adele and her music properly.

The DVD includes the concert (duh!) and an 8:30 clip, documenting Adele from literally her first of coffee to...

Simply Stunning.
There's an incredible moment near the end of the concert, where Adele, overwhelmed with emotion and the support of the crowd, starts crying after singing "Someone Like You." The entire Royal Albert Hall immediately givers her a thunderous standing ovation that lasts for quite a while, clearly showing their overflowing love and appreciation for this amazing artist. The look on her face is one of pure heartfelt appreciation. And the crowd can't get enough. None of us can.

It's flabbergasting how talented this young woman is. If you've never seen her live, this is the closest you'll get and you won't be disappointed. I've seen her more times than I can count now, still bought this DVD, and still was blown away. Magnificent.

JumpSport BODY Bounce Circuit DVD

Great beginners/intermediate rebounding workout
JumpSport BODY Bounce Circuit is produced by JumpSport (who sell their own rebounder which they call a "fitness trampoline" and which I have and love, also!). JumpSport has created three exercise DVDs for their 'fitness trampoline', although any of the DVDs could easily be used with any rebounder. I have all three but have only tried two of them so far.

BODY Bounce Circuit is a great beginner/intermediate workout. The instructor, Abbie Appel has a calm manner and gentle voice. Her instruction is spot-on and she takes time (especially in the beginning) to explain how to workout on a rebounder. There are two other instructors behind her, one does more advanced moves and one does beginner moves.

The workout itself is around 55 minutes. It begins with 'getting familiar' with the trampoline and easy bounces. Then it moves into the circuits, each of which consists of about 5 minutes of cardio (rebounding) and a few minutes of strength (both on and off the trampoline)...

Great, simple, easy to follow workout
I really enjoy this workout video. The instructor is very positive and motivational. The routine is broken up into 4 (I think) cario segments each followed by a strengthening segment. It ends with an ab workout and stretching session. I use this at least once a week on my JumpSport and really love it! The music is also fun to workout to.

good workout, poor sound
The workout is good. I actually became winded which is rare for me. But the sound quality is poor. The instructor speaks into a small microphone and it sounds bad. But I would buy it again if it broke.

Mission: Impossible - The '88 TV Season

The Only TV Series Revival Worth Seeing
The 1980's marked the beginning of the period when the concept of the weekly adventure/drama television series that started in the 1950's began to be exhausted so television producers came up with the idea of redoing popular old series in a more modern venue. Among those that appeared were old favorites of mine like Star Trek, Columbo and later the Rockford Files in a more restricted "TV movie" format. In my opinion those three revivals were sadly far below the original series in quality, even though the last two had the original stars. Rockford and Columbo, although they had highly charismatic stars as actors, failed in the revival because the actors had visibly aged and had less energy to put into their roles in addition to the fact that they knew the series could not be made without them.
Fortunately, the revival of Mission: Impossible in 1988 is a whole different story. Peter Graves is back in the role of Jim Phelps as head of the IMF (Impossible Missions Force). Graves...

the picture quality is FINE.
so, at long last the 1988-1990 revival of mission impossible comes to DVD...

i've been waiting for this for a very, very long time. i used to tape the show when it originally aired on ABC and i practically wore out those VHS copies by the mid nineties. then in around 2003 or 04, someone began offering VHS rips burned to DVD-R, so i picked up the whole series and was able to watch it straight through, tracking fuzz lines and half-edited out commercials and all.

now, just like airwolf and the late 80s columbo murder mysteries, i've got another fix of my favorite nostalgia television series on DVD.

people are going on and on about the picture quality. yes, like most shows of the mid eighties to mid nineties, the mission impossible revival was shot on film but EDITED on video (just like star trek TNG). thus often the only masters that have survived to the present are video tape.

i've seen horrible video masters and this ain't it (airwolf season...

Strike Season Production
Faced with a potentially lengthy writers strike in 1988, several producer groups decided to revive old shows where they already owned the rights. Mission Impossible fared better than most of these attempts, due to the use of original series plots and Peter Graves. Graves reprised his role as Jim Phelps with an all-new team only faintly resembling the previous group. His on-screen presence, and better writing, carried the show. It ran up against the Cosby Show and ratings eventually plunged.
Note that this is only the 19 episodes from 1988. The 1989 episodes (16) have yet to be released.

5 Days of War [HD]

great action movie.
Good action movie. Solid action scenes throughout. Good acting by most and a compelling story. Movie is about he Russian invasion of the former Soviet republic of Georgia. A very pro Western country that wants into the EU and NATO. The media enjoyed ignoring this little war at the time because we were bogged down in Iraq and Russia knew this when they decided to invade. The people of Georgia were left to be slaughterd alone fighting Russian agression as this movie shows. This movie deserves much more press than it is getting. Its no DieHard but true real life ussually isn't.

Good movie
This movie is very close to reality - what heppaned in Georgia in 2008. I am from the second troubled region of GA - from Abkhazia, and I know what is going on there and in "South Ossetia". Ethnic cleansing is part of policy of local government, it is encoureged and supported by "Older brother" from north. Some epizodes in this movie are not real, but majority are very close.

Their only weapon is the Truth
5 DAYS OF WAR is a disturbing film on many levels; it takes us into the bowels of an active war zone sharing the bloody ravenous hunger of war and the effects on the citizens of the invaded country, it is raw in its depiction of what happens to non-combatant journalists who are embedded to document the truth, and it is embarrassing how little the outside world knew of this brief but devastating war between Russia and Georgia in 2008 a war concomitant with the Olympic Games in Beijing, China so hungrily observed by the media. It tests our priorities of information intake and in doing so puts a quite different perspective on world events. The story is based on true facts and is well paced by writers Mikko Alanne and David Battle and directed with unrelenting intensity by Renny Harlin.

The film opens with three journalists and photographers - Thomas Anders (Rupert Friend), Sebastian Ganz (Richard Coyle), and Miriam (Heather Graham) - riding in a jeep in apparently placid...

Girls On Girls 2

Girls Kissing and Making Out as a Turn-On – For You !
If you think that watching girls kissing and making out is incredibly sexy --- then this DVD is probably for you.

The quality of this video is actually a cut-above those from other studios. The babes in this Girls Gone Wild (GGW) release – are all quite pretty, nicely breasted, and above all else – they’re all fantastic kissers.

The quick cuts of other women dancing, flashing or kissing (or all-in-combination) scattered throughout -- only adds to the video’s excitement.

Here’s a quick synopsis of the visual (and emotional) imagery you can expect to enjoy.

Two cute blondes talk about their favorite sexual positions while being interviewed in the GGW motor home. The parts they love most about each other’s bodies -- are their rears. They start out necking, but it doesn’t take much coaxing – to get them to go completely topless – which makes their kissing even more exciting. One girl...

Mod (2011) (Hindi Movie / Bollywood Film / Indian Cinema DVD)

ok
I almost gave up on this movie. It is not a typical Bollywood movie. There 's a twist - and that 's fine. It's just that it took forever to get to the point. A young woman lives in a small town. She runs a watch repair shop. One day, a young man shows up to get his wet watch repaired. There is obviously something wrong with him mentally. Uh oh. That's when the story slows down as you wait for the mystery of who he really is to be revealed. The acting was good, for the most part. The songs were forgettable. It was an ok movie.

Fright Night [HD]

Fang-tastic, Fun and Freaky
The Review:

Hollywood is recycling movies, cranking out remakes, reboots and prequels so fast that Fright Night is just one of TWO remakes released in the same week in August. But unlike the Conan reboot, Fright Night hits it out of the park. I confess to never having seen the original Fright Night, so I'm a tabula rasa so far as preconceptions of what Fright Night should be. I can't tell you how well the new Fright Night stands up to the original. What I can tell you is that this new Fright Night alternates perfectly between funny and thrilling. Starring Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Imogen Poots, David Tennant and Toni Collette, Fright Night is long on talent and short on filler. It moves at a brisk pace until it turns on pacing afterburners (in a good way!) about halfway through.

Anton Yelchin plays Charley Brewster. He and his single mom, Jane, played by Toni Collette live in Las Vegas and in a nod to the real world the economy is weak resulting in dozens of...

"Welcome to Fright Night...for real......again."
Okay, I am a HUGE Fright Night fan. I even enjoyed Fright Night part II, despite it's weak spots(less threatening and interesting villains, semi-rehash plot line). The original Fright Night has all the things I love about that special time called the 80's in horror; boisterous special effects, tongue firmly in cheek, monsters, and really great make up effects and ever evolving visual effects. It was a love letter to Hammer vampires and a send up of the 80's slasher trend that dominated the era and knocked over the traditional monsters. I had heard about this remake several years ago and was aghast. Nobody wanted Hollyweird to stay away from Fright Night more than me. I was so shocked that the remake turned out to be not only good, but surprising, and totally fun.

Now I know some horror fans, fanboys in general really, automatically hate something when it's remade, and hate something when the remake changes or rearranges things from the original. Let me warn you...

It was o.k!
While I don't share the same enthusiasm as others when it comes to this film that doesn't mean that I didn't like it at all. I appreciate the fact that they tried something new, but I couldn't help but feel like I could have been watching any other vampire movie besides Fright Night. I am an 80's baby, so I grew up a big fan of this movie, and if it were left up to me personally I don't think they should have even bothered with a remake. Remakes only show how unoriginal and uncreative Hollywood has become. With that said, let's discuss what I didn't find interesting, and that's the angle they took with this Peter Vincent. While I appreciate that they tried to make him a modern day version of Roddy McDowell let's keep it real. This guy was more like a rock star than a vampire hunter, real or fake, in my own opinion. You barely see this guy besides on television, and when Charlie finally looks the guy up he does absolutely nothing besides run and hide until the end of this movie. The...
